There are traditional healers in Sikkim, Northern India, who advocate the use of the Cordyceps mushroom Sinesis for any illnesses.

They suggest it as a tonic because they believe it improves energy, appetite, stamina and libido, endurance, and sleeping patterns.

Their use of the Cordyceps arose because it is a rare blend of caterpillar or ant and fungus and is found in Sikkim at altitudes over 3,800 metres.

Special Precautions with Cordyceps mushroom Sinesis with pregnancy and breastfeeding

There is insufficient solid information about the safety or otherwise of using Cordyceps if one is pregnant or breastfeeding.  The recommendation is, therefore, to avoid use.

Cordyceps Usage for Auto-immune Diseases

Cordyceps might lead to the immune system becoming more active, which could increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases.

Such diseases are Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Pus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or SLE) and other conditions.  Someone suffering from such a condition might be best to avoid Cordyceps usage.

Cordyceps Usage for Blood Disorders

The use of Cordyceps could cause blood to clot more slowly.  As a consequence, taking Cordyceps might result in increasing the risk of bleeding in people with such blood disorders.

Cordyceps Usage Before Surgery

Cordyceps could increase the risk of bleeding during surgery. The suggestion would be to cease Cordyceps at least two weeks before surgery.

Cordyceps might improve or increase the immune system.

If the immune system is increased, Cordyceps might have the effect of decreasing the efficacy of medications that decrease the immune system.  There is a list of medicines that decrease the immune system, and these include:

Basiliximab (Simulect), Cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), Mycophenolate (CellCept), Azathioprine (Imuran),
Daclizumab (Zenapax), Muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), Tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf),  Prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone),  Corticosteroids (Glucocorticoids), Sirolimus (Rapamune), and others.

Prednisolone is known to interact with farmed Cordyceps.

The former drug can sometimes be used to decrease the immune system, and therefore, The use of cordyceps might make Prednisolone less effective in decreasing the immune system.

The user's health, age, health and other conditions will all determine the correct dosage of Cordyceps.

At the time of writing, insufficient scientific data and information exist to establish an appropriate range of doses for Cordyceps correctly.

It is a fact that just because a product is natural does not make it safe, and dosages can be critical.
